Studies show that about 79 percent of people in America suffer from fear and anxiety about visiting the dentist – and many of them don’t obtain vital dental care due to this reason. Dr. Azam fully understands the anxiety people feel about dental work. That’s why we offer sedation dentistry options here at our practice. We offer several sedation methods to help you feel relaxed and comfortable during your treatment. In fact, you may not even realize the procedure was performed until it is complete!

Nitrous Oxide Sedation

Nitrous oxide is what some people refer to as "laughing gas". While it does not make everyone laugh, it is a mild form of sedation that can help decrease a patient's anxiety about having dental procedures completed. This type of sedation does not have many restrictions. Almost anyone is a candidate for Nitrous oxide sedation (even kids!), and studies and clinical trials have shown no long lasting side effects after the dental procedure is over. There are virtually no diet restrictions prior to or after using Nitrous oxide and you can drive yourself to and from your dental appointment.

Oral Conscious Sedation

Oral Conscious sedation is a way for you to experience virtually painless dental treatment without being totally unconscious during the procedure. There are no IV anesthetics involved – you will be given oral medication in a safe dose before your treatment that will put you in a very relaxed state. Oral conscious sedation makes it possible for you to avoid feeling discomfort or pressure during the procedure; however, you will be able to communicate with Dr. Azam and staff.

Please do not delay your needed dental care because of anxiety as we have relaxing options for you. Please call and schedule your consult with Dr. Azam.

Rather, feel free to reach out to Dr. Azam for the dental care you need most during this difficult time. Decay, cracks and even missing teeth are repaired and revitalized through our high quality dental care. We take the time and pride to improve not only oral health, but the esthetic value of the tooth/teeth in question so our patients can smile with more confidence.

We generally recommend having a dental crown placed when the cavity or structural damage is too extensive for a filling to treat the tooth adequately. Crowns are also recommended after root canal therapy or as part of dental implants to provide tooth-like shape and structure for function or for purely cosmetic reasons to improve appearance, shape or alignment. We offer crowns made from high quality, materials whether ceramic, porcelain, solid zirconia, emax or gold customized for patients so they enjoy better oral health and high aesthetic value and meet their financial needs. The process usually requires two appointments – one for us to shape tooth’s natural structure and take impressions and second where we place the permanent crown and make sure that it fits securely and comfortably and our patient is pleased with it.

Bridges, are non-surgical, least aggressive fixed option for patients with missing one or more teeth to provide improved esthetics, function and ease in eating. The gaps from missing teeth can cause misalignment and issues with appearance and eating. For that reason, replacing missing teeth sooner is important. Our bridges are made from very high-quality dental porcelain, with beautiful appearance and strong fit.

If you are not happy with the way your teeth look – whether they are misaligned, misshaped, stained due to medicines or tobacco – modern smile makeovers with veneers can be your dream smile and can increase your confidence in giving a beautiful smile. Veneers can be the answer for permanent tooth whitening, straightening of teeth, removal of gaps between teeth and enhancing your smile.

Veneers are done in 2 sittings and custom-made very thin covers for your teeth made from layering ceramics and bonded to front of tooth. They are made in any shade you desire whether natural or more lighter to brighten up your beautiful smile We use most modern technology in our practice for best fit and appearance with long lasting results in a pain-free environment. Veneers can be of Porcelain that are stronger, less likely to stain and give more natural look. Composite veneers are less expensive but look more opaque. Composite veneers are however one of the best choices to repair small chips or stains in teeth. Composite Veneers also come in several tooth color shades with good fit and appearance.

Whatever Veneer type you choose whether Porcelain or Composite, We strongly encourage you to communicate your desires with us to make sure we give you a clear understanding of the treatment plan and the costs involved. Please schedule your consult with Dr. Azam to know your options that fits your needs and you can have a smile of your dreams.

Bone loss and gum disease are some of the detrimental results of tooth loss if teeth aren’t replaced in a timely manner and can effect the confidence of many patients. Besides various other options of tooth replacement, We are glad to offer restoration of Dental implants with crowns once placed as an option due to their durability and lifelike appearance. Dental Implants procedure involves small surgery where bone is preserved by placing bio-compatible material in the bone to retain it. Crown is placed on the implant after healing of the site and gives enhanced longevity and esthtics. Though we use crown for single tooth loss, for multiple teeth loss, patients can have simpler choice of Implant-supported prosthesis (partial or complete denture) to fit over the implants placed strategically. Whether you’re missing a single tooth, multiple teeth or an entire arch teeth, please contact us to learn more about how dental implants can improve your confidence to smile and eat better.

Root canal is a procedure, if delayed for any reason can cause a lot of discomfort, pain, possible spread of existing infection and tooth may not be salvageable. Root canal treatment saves teeth that are affected by diseased nerve tissue located inside your tooth. Root canals can be due to untreated dental cavities where bacteria continue to erode the tooth and reaches the nerve, fracture of the tooth where nerve is affected, injury to face or tooth, old failing crowns or fillings where bacteria leaks through cracks and reach the nerve. After the tooth nerve is affected by bacteria, nerve continues to die due to infection and body then reacts by having inflammation as a response. This entire process can be very painful for patient. During Root canal procedure, infected nerve is removed, tooth is cleaned and filled to prevent further or any pain and infection and one can save own natural tooth. Tooth can be recommended to have crown for longevity. Dr. Azam may prescribe Pain medications and antibiotics.

You may not be comfortable with the function and appearance of your teeth or your existing dentures, if so, we are here to give you more functional, esthetically pleasing and comfortable full or partial denture as your viable tooth replacement option. Dentures can be conventional or implant-retained that makes the denture fixed. Dr. Azam listens to her patient's concerns and with her extensive education background recommends the best and advanced dentures that meets individual's needs based on oral health, financial situation and personal desires. Please call and schedule your appointment today to find out about your best possible options.

Invisalign straightens teeth and can fill in the gaps between teeth to give you a more beautiful and confident smile. You may have noticed wearing down of your teeth or chipping of some teeth, sore jaw, teeth or waking up with headaches. Sometimes you do not know and may well be grinding (bruxism) or clenching. Studies have shown that 3 out of 9 people suffer from clenching or grinding.

It is difficult to control it sometimes as most often it happens during sleep. It can happen in adults and children which can be a worrisome for parents/guardians. If left untreated, the process can lead to popping or clicking of the jaw (often referred to as TMJ), pain especially when eating or speaking, sleep and eating disorders and even depression. It can also cause fracture of teeth with sensitivity and pain.

Night guard also called Bite guard or occlusal guard can cover full arch of teeth or just a few and protects your teeth from any injury due to grinding/clenching. It is also used for TMJ Therapy as it serves as cushion and protects the jaw muscles also to prevent you from soreness and any detrimental affects that it can cause. Though it does not directly stop from the activity altogether, by relaxing the muscles, it reduces frequency.

We also recommend night guards if you have extensive dental work done including crowns, bridges to increase its longevity, even though you may not be grinding or clenching.

Full arch guard can also serve children and adults in terms of protecting teeth while they are playing sports as "Sports Guard".

Please consult us for your customized guard according to your needs to protect your teeth and give you restful sleep.

With time, teeth can become darker or yellow with every day use and it can make one uncomfortable about their smile. Stains on teeth can be classified as extrinsic or intrinsic. Extrinsic stains appear on the surface of your teeth. Intrinsic stains live between the micro-cracks in your enamel and deep within your dentin (the layer of your tooth underneath your enamel). Whitening toothpastes and mouth rinses may be able to remove some of the extrinsic stains on your teeth. But only teeth whitening agents can remove the stubborn extrinsic stains and the unsightly intrinsic stains that cause your teeth to look discolored. Over the counter whitening system is different than professional whitening as being dentists we can use optimum concentration that is within the health range of the material compared to the over the counter agents where they are restricted. We at White Sand Dental Studio prefer to use Whitening agents that not only give stunning results but keep your teeth in health compared to agents that can cause higher sensitivity over the time and can compromise the longevity of tooth. If you prefer to make your teeth more white and have a brighter smile, we are here to schedule your teeth whitening consult for you.
